Why?  It's Easy, you'll be there anyway, you'll get a reserved seat in the front row, you'll get special recognition, and your kids and their band directors will appreciate it!!  Plenty of good reasons.

Data Entry - Assist directors with beginning of the year information (Entry in Microsoft Office)

Set-Up Help – Arrive before a concert (3:30-4:00 weekday) and get the band shell and chairs in place.

Warm-up Chaperone – Be in the band room during pre-concert warm-ups to maintain order, help directors.

Tear-Down Help – After concert, take down band shell, quick clean-up and that’s it!

Rock-a-thon Chaperones – This Friday night late fundraising event needs many chaperones in shifts. Much fun!

Festival and Pre-Festival Clinic Chaperones – Assist with rehearsals and the festival trip.

Pep Band Game Chaperones– A couple parents to be present at each game

Trickum Night Chaperones– 8^th graders marching with Parkview band.

End of Year Picnic Help – All the bands play an outdoor concert, general picnic help with band set-up, food set-up, tear-down and clean-up.

Shirt Letter   (order form below)

August 20 & 21, 2003

Dear parents,

It is time to order a band shirt! The band uniform is the band shirt with black pants or long skirt, black socks or thick stockings, and black shoes. Black jeans are acceptable, as long as they are not faded. Along the same lines, any type of solid black shoes (dress or sneakers) is acceptable. When the seventh and eighth grade bands attend band festival, one of the categories that we are graded on is appearance. The purpose of the uniform is to look uniform.

The band shirt is a royal blue polo shirt. Embroidered on the left chest is an orange tiger paws on a white music staff, with TMS Band written in white. The students have the option of adding their first name and/or a picture of their instrument on the right chest. The shirt is 50/50 picque (a textured fabric) blend of polyester and cotton, which lessens the amount of fading and shrinking. We selected a blend so that it wouldn't fade or shrink.

The band uniform will be worn anytime the band is performing or a student is representing the Trickum Band, (i.e. District Clinic or All-State Band). It is required to perform at the concerts. The students will use the same shirt throughout their time in middle school. Middle school students change drastically in size from sixth grade to eighth grade, so please order the shirts on the large side, so that your son or daughter can grow into it.

The final day that we will be accepting order forms is Friday, August 30. Please complete the order form and return it as soon as possible. We expect to have the shirts before the end of September. If you would like to order a shirt for yourself, please duplicate the order form to the best of your ability and turn it in with your child's order. Checks should be made out to Trickum Middle School.
